Windows 10 was officially launched on 10th of July of 2015 being already in the market.

Some anxious users, or those who have older Windows versions such as Windows XP or Vista, have already changed to the new OS.

You can still get Windows 10 for free during the first year after release if you have an upgradable windows 7 or windows 8 version.

The user is notified by an icon on the bottom right corner of his computer desktop in order to upgrade for free.

After the user follow the instructions, Windows 10 will be downloaded (about 3GB size approximately) and in the end the user will be able to install or schedule it for later.

Microsoft says that user can cancel the subscription whenever he wants if he changes his mind.

So far so good, but in some cases Windows 10 has been automatic downloaded, and even installed without user permission, discarding cancelled subscriptions due an "error" supposedly fixed to this time.

Well, what about if you don't want to change and rather keep your actual operative system with no taking chances?

There are some advanced, complicated and tedious methods capable of solving the problem but they're not quick or advisable to "common user".

Anyway...we found a quick, effective and easy solution that can be done by any user.

The steps that we are about to teach will work on every computers that have not downloaded the Windows 10 installation files yet.

It's also valid to computers that have the upgrade notification icon in active state, but once again that have not yet downloaded Windows 10 files.

Notice that the procedures of this tip are effective until today, however we cannot assure them if in a near future Microsoft changes the download and install methods for windows 10.

How to block automatic Windows 10 upgrade?

Fairly simple with just these steps:

1 - Boot your Windows with the administrative account

2 - Go to control panel and click on "Windows Update" option

2 - Disable your Windows Automatic Updates

3 - Disable this permission option: "Give me recommended updates the same way i receive important updates"

4 - Disable this permission option: "Allow all users to install updates on this computer"

Click "OK" to apply the configurations

And that is all, iPonto did it!

Have in mind that:

From now on, you will do updates manually, but lets be real, Windows 7 it's not for sale by Microsoft any more and almost gained the status of discontinued. Windows 8 will be in the same path soon, since Microsoft wants to make Windows 10 universal.

Conclusion...You wont have a bunch of important updates to do, discarding those you already have.

Some other informations that we believe to be important and you should know, in case you want to upgrade for Windows 10.

If you don't have your Windows installation CD, or Product Key, you can only return to your older windows version if you do it before a month as passed.

You will no longer have your factory pre-installed Windows into you hard drive after you upgrade to windows 10.

Microsoft makes that note with the following message:

"If the manufacturer set up your PC to run from a compressed Windows image file (also known as Windows image file boot or WIMBoot) and included the option to restore factory settings, that option will no longer be available after you upgrade to Windows 10."
